Todd's Tip of the Week: What to do After a Fire

- Limit foot traffic in the affected areas or rooms to prevent spreading the soot damage.
- If electricity is off, remove all items from both refrigerator and freezer and leave doors open.
- Clean and protect chrome with light coating of petroleum jelly or oil.
- Wash houseplants on both sides of leaves.
- Do not attempt to clean walls or floors without contacting your SERVPRO Franchise Professional.
- Do not use any food products that are located near the source fire, heat or water.4
- Do not turn on ceiling fixtures if ceiling is wet. The wiring may be damaged.
- Do not send garments to an ordinary dry cleaner. Improper cleaning may set smoke odor.
